Where Have You Fallen?

Mathew 13: 3-9

"And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold a sower went forth to sow;
And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
Some fell upon stony place, where they had not much eath: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up and choked them:
But other fell into good ground, and brought forth good fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
Who hath ears to hear, let him hear."

Have you fallen by the way side?

The most simple and basic definitions of 'way side' are "being, situated, or found at or along the wayside" and "the side or edge of a road."

To be on the way side is to be on the edge or the border of the world. You probably will have one foot in the world and then one in the church. (Why are you trying to do a balancing act?) We know that in Mathew 7, it states, "...strait is the gate, and narrow is the way,..." So isn't it easy to fall along side the road? The path to an eternity in Heaven?

"The fowls came and devoured them up".... The people of this world, the same people you placed yourself, will 'devour' you. You just can't place yourself on the edge!

Did you fall on a stony place?

You come to service but haven't gotten REALLY "grounded" in the church. Sure, you know there is ONE God, you can keep the standards pretty well, and maybe you haven't even got in trouble by Pastor! But your roots aren't deep in the 'soil.' Once the sun starts to creep up and the pressure of the your trial starts to become a little too much, you [will] wither away (backslide). All because you never established yourself and don't have it in your heart.

Wither: to lose the freshness of youth ... to shrivel; fade; decay ... shrunken, or dry, as from loss of moisture

Are you among thorns?

You've placed yourself right in the middle of the world. They overtook you and took all of your needs to survive! Maybe you thought you could handle having 'worldly' friends. Obviously, you thought wrong. Every ounce of water and every pinch of good soil was taken out of your hands. You have nothing left to live off of. The thorns have choked you.

Or have you been sown on good ground?

You have all the nutrients you need. (Prayer, the Holy Ghost, baptism in Jesus name). Your roots are deep in the soil. When that trial came, your roots didn't fail you! You have brought forth good fruit :)

Bible Quizzer

Umm.... I had no idea what I was getting myself into lol! This is my first year of Bible Quizzing and man! I love it!!!!! :D I can't wait to go to the competitions!! :D We have to learn over 400 verses but as Bro. Vick & Brendan said "Don't look at the numbers." It's easier when you don't look at numbers and you just memorize and go over them everyday!!! I'm so excited!!! It has motivated me to get done with schoolwork lol. I hope we have a good (NOOO, a GREAT!) team so we can go to more competitions. :) Fun & traveling! Which teams do you know that are awesome Bible Quizzers?? Do you have any tips for a first time BQ??? :)

Courage in the Altar

It takes courage to walk to the altar (a lot of the time). Especially when you are struggling and going through trials. Most of us feel embarrassed or have too much pride to cry in the altar, shout, or dance in the Spirit. It really does amaze me.. It's like we are intimidated by other women/men.. Have you ever noticed it? Courage: " have the courage of one's convictions, to  act   in accordance with one's beliefs, especially in spite of criticism." (dictionary.com) I've heard plenty of people say, "The day so&so shouts and runs the aisles is when I'll do it." I REALLY don't get it! Do these people not have the revelation of worship, praise, and not to care what others are going to think about them?? Sometimes, worship is a life or death situation. :/ Seriously. You won't give God 100% of your praise... You're holding back.. You won't let loose. The saints of God get victory through prayer and worship.
